Juraj Vancik was born in Bratislava in 1962. After graduating from university he worked as a draughtsman. During this period he also worked as an amateur violin maker and a restorer. His professional occupation in this field began in 1994. In the years 2000-2005 he worked as a violin maker in Slovak Radio in Bratislava. In 2005 he established an art studio in the premises of IUVENTA in Bratislava.

He has devoted himself to the productionof new masterpieces, violins, violas and cellos as wel as restoration of valuable masterpieces. Many professional musicians in Slovakia and abroad play on the modern and baroque violins produced in the atelier of Juraj Vancik. In 2006 he was awarded the prize for the best Slovak violin maker given to him personally by Mr. Simeone Morassi. Since 2001 Juraj Vancik has been the holder of the state judge authorization in the field of bow music instruments.
